Important Notes:

 

Ø   Only female candidates are eligible to apply.

 

Ø   There is no hostel facility in the college.

 

Ø   For eligibility criteria, number of seats and other details please visit our website.

 

Ø   Admission to any course of the college is provisional, subject to final approval of the University of Calcutta.

 

Ø   If a candidate wishes to apply for more than one Honours subject she will have to submit separate application for each subject.

 

Ø   Applicants must get a print out of the application form after making the online submission for her personal record. The candidates do not need to submit the hard copy of the Application form or bank challan / payment receipt of the Application fee to the college after online submission of the Application form. They will have to submit the hard copy of the Application form at the time of Admission.

 

Ø   Application fees can be deposited on-line (Bill Desk gateway or SBI Collect) as well as off-line (through Bank Challan, SBI Collect) modes. Application Fee for each subject is Rs 100/- payable at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI Collect) from 27th  May, 2019 (2 PM) to 8th June, 2019 (during Banking Hours for offline mode) and also through Bill Desk payment gateway. Forms will not be considered valid if payment is not made.

Ø   Relaxation of the last date for online application and submission of fees is not   permitted.

Ø   By clause (g) of sub-section (1) of section 26 of the University Grant Commission Act, 1956, “UGC Registration on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Education Institute, 2009”, will be implemented.

Ø  Admission to the college will be granted on the understanding that the student undertakes to conform to the rules and disciplines of the college in all respects.

A candidate taking up Honours in B.A. Degree Course/Programme shall study

i) Honours in any one subject of the Humanities Division and any two other generic elective

subjects taking at least one from the Humanities Division.

ii) However, that other things remaining the same, a candidate may take up Honours Course in the B.A. in the following subjects without taking any generic elective subject from the Division of Science/Home Science. a) Mathematics, b) Geography, c) Economics, d) Statistics

 

  A candidate taking up Honours Course/Programme for B. Sc. Degree shall study

Honours in any one subject from the Division of Science/Home Science and any two other

generic elective subjects taking at least one from the Science/ Home Science Division.

Intake Capacity:

22% and 6% of the seats are reserved for Schedule Caste (SC) and Schedule Tribes(ST) whereas 10% and 7% of the seats are kept reserved for Other Backward Class- A(OBC-A) and Other Backward Class- B (OBC-B) respectively.

 SC, ST, OBC-A and OBC-B candidates from West Bengal are only eligible for reserved seats.

As per G.O.No 65-Edn(U)/1U-89/13 Date: 16.10.2014, person with disabilities will enjoy 3% reservation in each of the categories, i.e. SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B and the General category.

Eligibility Criteria for the Admission

 

A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent Examination is

eligible to seek admission to the 1st semester of the 3 year (six semesters) B.A./B.Sc. (Honours) Course of Studies provided she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100 and fulfils the conditions as laid down in Clauses  1 and 2.

 

Clause1. For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the B.A./B.Sc. (Honours) Course, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. Marks in compulsory Environmental Education/Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks.

A candidate taking up Honours Course in a subject must have obtained:

(a)  i. A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related

subject at the previous qualifying examination.

Or

ii. 55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.

Or

iii. 50% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject in her

previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied.

 

(b) Candidates belonging to Reserved Categories taking up Honours Course of Study must have

obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related

subjects at the previous qualifying examination, as the case may be.

 

 (c) Reservation Policy for admission in three year (six semesters) degree courses of studies shall be guided by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission), Act, 2013 and the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2014.

Index Mark for the Merit List:

Aggregate means total marks of the best four subjects (at least 100 marks paper). However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education /Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. If the subject "Environmental Science" is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, may be taken into account for the purpose determining the aggregate marks

Admission will be conducted on the basis of provisional merit list. Provisional Merit list will be generated on the basis of Index Mark (formula given on the list below).

For admission a SC/ST candidate must secure not less than 25% and an OBC candidate must secure not less than 10% of index mark of the last admitted candidate in General Category in Honours and General Courses. For Reserved Category: Formula of index marks remains same as General Category

**No candidate shall be allowed admission after a lapse of more than 5 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.

Explanation: The year of admission shall not be taken into account while calculating five years from the year of passing the previous qualifying Examination
